We at Native Hope would like to share our accomplishments in 2024 and express our extreme gratitude for everyone who helped make it possible. Here’s what you helped us do:
Firewood: Hauled and split logs into firewood which we delivered to195 families to help them stay warm. Most of the wood was donated in the Durango area and then transported to the Navajo reservation. Many of the recipients live in isolated areas of New Mexico and Arizona.
Family to Family Program: Delivered monthly boxes of food and supplies packed by Durango-area families for 29 struggling Navajo individuals and families, a total of 928 boxes. Many of the Durango and Navajo families shared letters, phone calls and texts, creating friendships and deepening cross-cultural understanding.
Water: Hauled clean water to 31 families, usually once or twice a month, for a total of 251 deliveries. Our truck, trailer and water tank cover vast distances, often averaging an hour per delivery.
Care Packages: Delivered 276 boxes of food and supplies to needy individuals and families, many of whom have little access to grocery stores.
Solar Lighting: Installed simple solar lighting in 19 homes. When everything is dark outside, those individuals and families now have at least one lighted room.
Home Repairs: Two volunteer teams from Durango completed repairs to three houses on two multi-day work trips in conjunction with the Summit Restore and Rebuild Outreach. The families there now have homes that are much warmer and drier.
And Lots of Other Items: Distributed coats, diapers, cleaning supplies, children’s clothes, blankets, hand-made quilts and more.
Jobs: Provided part time employment for two residents of the Navajo Nation.
